Richard Dale Thomas, 67, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Burial will be private for family only in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Towson will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home and asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.

Mr. Thomas was born in Hogansville, Georgia the son of the late Marie Phillips Thomas and Benjamin Jefferson Thomas. He was retired editor of the Macon Telegraph where he worked for 25 years. Mr. Thomas was a graduate of Mercer University and later completed a Fellowship in Journalism at Stanford University in California. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Thomas.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Martha Yates Thomas of Macon; son, Richard James Thomas (Ellen) of Macon; daughter, Elizabeth Thomas DellaDonna (Jody) of Macon; grandchildren, Mary Shelton Thomas, Andrew Yates Thomas and Maria Ann DellaDonna; sister, Barbara Thomas Payne (Monroe) of Newnan; nieces and nephews, Cynthia Thomas Jarrard (Bill), Terry Payne (Amy), Tammy Payne Richardson (Bobby), and Tony Payne; loving great-nieces and great-nephews.
