Jere Grant Starr, 82, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at the Lane Cemetery in Vienna, Georgia. Rev. Andy Oxford will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donation be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 7015 Rivoli Road, Macon 31210 or Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.

Mr. Starr was born in Conyers, Georgia the son of the late Mary Granade Starr and Grant Carter Starr. He was preceded in death by his son, David E. Starr. Mr. Starr was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 44 years of service. He was a member of Mr. Zion Baptist Church, a former deacon, and served many years on the Outreach Committee. Mr. Starr was a member of the ICU Union for 50 years, served on the Board of the Brosnan Yard Federal Credit Union before retiring.

Mr. Starr is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glenda Noble Starr of Macon; sister, Anne Starr McCurdy of Conyers; niece, Gina McCurdy of Conyers; nephew, Marty McCurdy (Beth) of Lawrenceville; very special friend, Kahran Evans.
