Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Smith Moore passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 16 at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, Macon, Georgia with Dr. Laudis H. "Rick" Lanford officiating. Burial will be private for family only in Riverside Cemetery, North Gate. The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home with a reception. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Smith Moore passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Born in Macon, Georgia, on February 9, 1929, the only child of the late Albert Newton "Buck" Smith and Myrtle McCrimmon Smith of Macon, Georgia. Betty was a graduate of A.L. Miller High School, Macon, Georgia, Sullin's College, Bristol, Virginia, and Wesleyan College of Macon, Georgia. She also did graduate studies at the University of Alabama.

Betty taught in the Bibb County, Lexington, and Athens, Georgia School systems. For several years she was the children's librarian in Augusta and Decatur,Georgia, and she became licensed in real estate in the Macon area. Betty was a member of Ft. Valley United Methodist Church, served as historian for the Governor Treutlen Chapter of the NSDAR, a member of Hill & Dale Garden Club of Macon, Town & Country Garden Club of Ft. Valley, a member of the Historic Macon Foundation, past president of the Medical Auxiliary of Bibb County, and a member of the Wesleyan alumni association and the Historic Rose Hill Cemetery Foundation. She enjoyed very much being a United Methodist Women's Circle Bible teacher at Vineville United Methodist Church in Macon, and at Ft. Valley United Methodist Church. In 2000, Betty and Cleon Moore resided at Amelia Island, Florida, until December 7, 2007, when they moved to Carlyle Place, Macon, Georgia.

Betty was a devoted and loved wife, mother and grandmother (Mamee Moe), and friend. Betty loved the Lord, her family and friends, and lived life to the fullest. She had 37 wonderful years with her deceased husband Cleon Moore. Survivors include her son H. Chan White III and wife Anna Rinehart White of Tucker, Georgia, granddaughters Mary Elisabeth and Sarah White, and grandson Chandler White IV; stepdaughters Pam Frame of Cornelius, NC and Cindy Askew of LaGrange, GA; grandchildren Jennifer Love, Erin Askew Hill (Kevin), Templin Frame, and Cameron Askew (Ashley).
